GLOBAL SCANNING NETWORKAuthenticity in the AnthropoceneThe video shows a small plastic bag with black dust inside. Next, artist and innovator Daan Roosegaarde explains how that dust – carbon particles collected from the filters of a huge air purifier set in a park in Rotterdam – is compressed into little diamonds, attached to rings and sent off to their new owners. The diamonds are part of Studio Roosegaarde’s Smog Free Project, an initiative set to clean the air in urban environments. The diamond rings are given to individual funders of the project in exchange for their support for the project. |
